Gorilla Trekking in Rwanda

In order to successfully see the mountain gorillas in Rwanda,there is need to know the procedures one must fulfill before being given a go av head to track them and the most striking one is how to book a gorilla permit.

Gorilla tracking permits must be booked in advance.However in advance depends on your desired time of tracking. Note that high season means anytime from 1st June to 30th September. During this time it is extremely difficult to get permits. During these months some dates are fully booked 6 months in advance and to be on the safe side book even a year or 9 months in advance.

There are also some gorilla tracking rules and Regulations that need to be taken into consideration before heading to the actual gorilla tracking process.These rules and regulations majorly focus on three main areas;

-Conservations of environment

-Health of gorillas

-Safety of the trackers.

Littering, coughing, shouting, pointing at gorillas are prohibited. Gorillas have freedom of way and should not be obstructed in any way.

It is always advisable to use a 4×4 Land cruiser when going for gorilla tracking since the road to Kinigi is not all tarmacked though not all of it.So easy mobility and a comfortable ride,this is more suitable.

-Hiking boots-not mountain climbers-anything hardy above the ankle is okey

-Gloves

-Water proof container for your camera

-A warm cardigan

-If you desire to wear a headgear, a base ball cap is recommended

-Long trousers and long sleeves are ideal

-Enough film.
