Mountain gorillas in found only in three African countries; Uganda, Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
Within Uganda, mountain gorillas are found in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and Mgahinga National park while in Rwanda, they are found within Parc Nationale des Volcans (PNV). Within Congo, mountain gorillas are found within Virunga National Park.
Within these countries, there are several groups of habituated mountain gorillas that can be visited by tourists interested in gorilla Trekking. These groups are found in different locations within the gorilla parks. These mountain gorillas have got unique features and that’s why many tourists have ended up traveling to different locations for gorilla trekking.
Mountain gorillas are conserved and preserved within the national park and this has been done through the collaboration of the park management and the local people who leave around the national parks, hence encouraging them in the participation of the development of tourism in Uganda. Many tourism projects have been started in order to help the local people benefit from tourism development. This will also help in increasing the number of tourists who come for gorilla tracking tours to Uganda.
The mountain gorillas have unique features which include; spending most of their time eating and resting, the silverback is the head of the each group and it’s responsible for protecting all the members of the group. The gorillas also share 98% of their DNA with that of the human beings. Apart from the mountain gorillas, Uganda has also got many other attractions which include; the chimpanzees which are found in kibale national park, the birds, wildlife species, mountains, and lakes and rivers, a safari visit to Uganda will expose you to all these attractions.

Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
Bwindi impenetrable national park is a dense forest which receives rainfall throughout the year and it’s located in the western part of Uganda, it has also got many other animals apart from the mountain gorillas, these include the monkeys, elephants, birds, snakes, etc.The mountain gorillas are considered to be the main tourist attraction with in the park and these are well managed by Uganda Wildlife Authority, a body which is responsible for conserving and preserving of the mountain gorillas.
