CNN has named Uganda’s Bwindi Impenetrable Forest national park, Kenya’s Samburu national park and Morocco’s Mount Toubkal as the top 3 most beautiful places around the world. The 3 African destinations top the list of 25 places ranked as most beautiful around the world.
According to the CNN published document, “The world’s a spectacular place, full of hidden and overt beauty in every corner. But beauty is also subjective. It’d be impossible to get a unanimous decision on the most beautiful places around the world – but we think this list is a good start to plan your travels.”
The list of the 25 most beautiful places around the world was published in celebration of Earth Day according to CNN. “From lush African forest to vast Latin American deserts, watery Balkan paradises to ancient Middle Eastern cities”, the document read in part.
However, despite mentioning that it’d be impossible to get a unanimous decision on the most beautiful places around the world, CNN ranked the 3 African destinations as the topmost beautiful.
Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, Uganda
About Bwindi Impenetrable forest national park in Uganda which was ranked number one as the most beautiful place around the world, CNN wrote, “Dense, lush and otherworldly, Bwindi Impenetrable Forest is one of the last redoubts of the mountain gorilla. Over 400 call this UNESCO-protected national park home, with the chance for visitors to trek and meet habituated groups. Its biodiversity extends far beyond its famous inhabitants, however; 348 bird species and 220 butterfly species can be found within its 331 –square-kilometer expanse”.
Bwindi Impenetrable national park inhabits more than half of the global population of mountain gorillas. There are about 17 habituated gorilla families that are trekked by tourists every day. Gorilla safaris to Bwindi are organized throughout the year by local tour agents. Trekking mountain gorillas in this Park requires you to buy a gorilla permit which is sold at $600 and it allows you to spend one hour with the gorillas according to the conservation regulations.
Bwindi is one of the only two locations in the world where mountain gorillas are found. The other place with these apes include the Virunga Mountains that span the borders of Rwanda, Uganda and DR Congo. There are three parks within this protected area with mountain gorillas. These include Volcanoes national park in Rwanda, Mgahinga gorilla national park in Uganda and Virunga national park in DR Congo.
Samburu, Kenya
Samburu National Reserve in Kenya was ranked second on CNN’s list.
“Thanks to its relative inaccessibility, Samburu, in the heart of Kenya, is a haven for some of Africa’s most beguiling wildlife. The grassland and acacia-dotted landscapes of its national reserve are home to the endangered reticulated giraffe and Grevy’s zebra, as well as the pioneering Elephant Watch Camp, run by conservationist Saba Douglas-Hamilton”. Read the CNN document about this beautiful Kenyan game reserve.
Some of the features that make Samburu really beautiful include the Ewaso Ng’iro river that flows through the middle of the reserve, several large game species, and birds.
Mount Toubkal, Morocco
This was ranked number 3 on the list and CNN wrote, “At 4,167 meters, Mount Toubkal lays claim to the title of “the roof of North Africa.” The path to its summit zigzags across empty valleys, past holy shrines and up steep snowfields before emerging onto a ridge that falls away to give climbers unrivaled views across the Atlas Mountains. It’s a peaceful world away from the buzz of nearby Marrakech”.
