8 Days Gorilla Safari in Uganda

Tour Itinerary

Day 1: Kampala – Murchison Falls National Park
Pick up by our company tour guide from your hotel in Kampala after your breakfast and drive northwest to Masindi Town for lunch with an en route stop at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for a nature walk to view Rhinos. Proceed to Murchison Falls National Park via Kichumbanyobo gate as you drive to the top of the spectacular falls where you can see the Nile crushing through a 7m wide gap before plunging 42m deep into the gorge producing a thunderous roar and a rainbow making it the strongest water falls in the world. Later drive to your accommodation for Dinner & Overnight.

Day 2: Game Drive – Birding & Launch Cruise
Today start off with an early breakfast and set out to catch a ferry to help you cross the Nile to the northern section of the park for a morning game drive. On the drive, expect to see different wildlife including; Hartebeest, Lion, Bush bucks, Elephants, Jackal and many others. Return to your lodge for lunch and relaxation. In the late afternoon take a launch cruise to the bottom of the falls. You will have a fantastic view of birds like kingfishers, goliath heron, African fish eagle, African jacana, piacpiac, rock pranticole and many others. Wildlife you may see include: hippo, crocodiles, buffalo, water buck, kob, giraffe, reed buck, gazelle and bush buck. Dinner and Overnight

Day 3: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park,
After an early breakfast Transfer south wards to Queen Elizabeth National Park with an en route lunch. The day’s long journey will fascinate you with sights of traditional home steads and plantations as you traverse the verdant country side of Hoima and Kabalore districts. A mini game drive En-route to your lodge/camp may reward you with views of water bucks, Elephants, Leopards, Buffaloes, Hyenas and a variety of Antelope species and some hunting cats beginning their voyage.

Day 4: Game Viewing and afternoon Launch Cruise:
Today you will have breakfast very early and head out for a morning game drive in the park along the Kasenyi trail. This may reward you with excellent sights of savannah wildlife like Lions, Leopards, Giant Forest Hogs, Cape Buffaloes, Elephants, Water bucks, Uganda Kobs, Topi and Bush bucks and many more as well as a plethora of bird life. After lunch, enjoy a fantastic 2-hour boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel that connects Lakes George and Edward. The boat trip passes through possibly the highest concentration of Hippos and many other animals may be seen drinking at the water’s edge in the hot afternoon. A variety of bird species may also be seen along the swampy shrubs along the banks including the pelicans, the kingfishers, African fish eagle, African skimmer and if lucky, the pre-historic looking shoe bill stalk. The launch cruise offers superb platform for photography, bird watching as well as game viewing. Abundant bird life is colorful and remarkable with well over 607 resident species. Return to the lodge in the evening for dinner and relaxation at (Day 3)

Day 5: Chimps tracking in Kyambura Gorge – Transfer to Bwindi NP
After breakfast, you may opt for trekking the chimps in Kyambura gorge or visit Maramagambo forest for a nature walk in the forest that will lead you to the bat caves for sights of pythons and later to the blue lake. this nature walk will reward you with sights of forest birds and primate species. In the afternoon transfer to Bwindi national park passing via the Ishasha sector to spot the tree climbing lions as well as a variety of antelope species. You will arrive in Bwindi in the late evening for Dinner and Overnight at

Day 6: Mountain Gorilla Trekking & an optional Community Walk
Today is the day for your gorilla trekking adventure. Have an early breakfast and head to the park headquarters with packed lunch for briefing from the senior park ranger guide. Later be accompanied by armed ranger guides in the forest to search for the Mountain Gorillas. The time taken to track the Gorillas is unpredictable since it depends on their movements in search for food and shelter. However, it can take from 30 minutes to 8 hours. When you finally meet the gorillas, you will have one hour with them and this will enable you to watch them as they interact with each other, play and communicate as you take photographs and Videos to refresh your memory. Return to your lodge for recuperation. If time and energy permit, take an afternoon community walk to the Bakiga/ Batwa community as you learn their way of life before retiring for dinner at your lodge. Day 7: Transfer to Lake Mburo National Park
After breakfast, you will transfer to Lake Mburo National Park. The scenic drive will take you through the Kabale region, also called the Switzerland of Africa due of its topography full of hills and highlands and temperatures. You will have lunch in Mbarara town and reach Lake Mburo national park in the afternoon in time for a boat ride on Lake Mburo. Look out for animals like Hippos, crocodiles and a variety of birds like the papyrus gonolek, shoe bill stalk, grey plantain eater. Dinner and overnight

Day 8: Game drive and transfer back to Kampala
After breakfast, you will go for the morning game drive following any of the park’s trails in search for animals like the herds of Zebra, Impala, Eland and other savannah species and if lucky you may also spot the elusive leopard and the recently sighted lion. Also look out for bird species like African Fin foot, Papyrus gonolek, Bush Shrike and so on. Later transfer back to Kampala with lunch en route at the equator. Drop off at the Hotel or at the Airport depending on your departure schedule.
