12 Days Ethiopian Historic and Cultural Tour

Tour Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Addis Ababa
Upon arrival in Addis Ababa you are met and transferred to your hotel. This evening, join your Tour guide for a welcome dinner. Overnight at Selected Hotel

Day 2: Addis Ababa
Visit to Addis Ababa capital city to view its treasures including National Museum, Entoto hills to get the panoramic view of the city, then on to St. Mary’s Church and Museum, a century-old Church. After lunch, enjoy a visit to the Mercato – the biggest open-air market in the African continent. Overnight at selected Hotel

Day 3: Addis Ababa-Bahir Dar
After breakfast transfer to Bahirdar upon arrival check-in at the hotel then drive to visit the stunning Blue Nile River falls locally known as “Tisisat”. After lunch have a boat trip on Lake Tana to explore the ancient monasteries. Overnight at Tana Hotel

Day 4: Bahir Dar-Gondar
Disembark for a tour to Gondar visiting its castles and churches. After lunch, enjoy visits to the Debre Birhan Selassie adorned with magnificent murals, the Qusqam Church and Mentwab Palace. Overnight at Goha Hotel

Day 5: Gondar- Semien Mountain
This morning drive to Debark and get way to the Semien Mountains National Park. Proceed to Sankaber and arrive at your first trekking starting spot Sankaber. Make a day trekking around the camp; enjoy packed lunch on the top of viewpoint. Drive back to Gonder for Overnight Goha Hotel.

Day 6: Gondar – Lalibela
Head to Lalibella renowned for its church of St. George carved like a cross out of the red rock. Enjoy lunch at the Hotel before starting a visit to the amazing rock hewn churches another UNESCO World Heritage site. Overnight at Roha Yemerha Hotel

Day 7: Lalibela
In the morning, tour Lalibela with your local guide to see the Asheten Mariam church found on top of a hill and later visit the remaining 5 rock hewn churches. Return for a coffee ceremony in one of the traditional houses. Overnight at Yemerah Hotel

Day 8: Lalibela – Axum
Travel to Axum once the capital city of Ethiopia that survived to date, visiting different archaeological sites, the bath and the palace of Queen Sheba; tomb of Kings, Churches which include St Mary of Tsion where many Believed to find the Ark of Covenant. Overnight at your Hotel

Day 9: Axum – Addis Ababa
This morning drive to the Airport for a flight to the capital city of Ethiopia, Addis Ababa. After lunch, opt for a private city tour to visit the Entoto Mountains, national museum, Trinity church and then proceed to the biggest Open-air market in Africa. Overnight at your hotel

Day 10: Addis Ababa-Dire Dawa
Enjoy morning breakfast and depart to Diredawa. Later drive to Harar to tour the city and enjoy a Scenic visit to fourth Muslim sacred place in the world hosting pilgrims after Mecca, Medina and Jerusalem, then take in great views of the 16th century wall built by Adere people to protect themselves from aggression of externals.

Day 11: Harar
This morning, embark on a tour of Babile to visit the valley of marvels, Harar Mosques, churches, tombs, 19th century French poet Arthur Rembound house and Cultural houses of Adere people. Proceed in the evening to visit Hyena man Performance. Overnight at a hotel

Day 12: Harar – Addis Ababa
After breakfast drive back to Addis Ababa for a fitting conclusion to your visit to the historic Ethiopian capital to set the tone for a celebratory farewell dinner at a nearby local restaurant. Overnight in Addis Ababa
