Price Harry and wife Meghan on Africa tour with their bay Archie

Prince Harry and his wife Meghan who are the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are in Africa together with their four-month-old son Archie for a 10-day family tour.

The statement from a Buckingham Palace spokeswoman shows that the Prince has a long-term love for Africa and it’s the one that has pushed him into this visit together with his family.

“The Duke of Sussex’s love for Africa is well known; he first visited the continent at the age of 13 and more than two decades later, the people, culture, wildlife, and resilient communities continue to inspire and motivate him every day.” She said.

The royals will be celebrating the continent’s people and culture during their 10-day tour that begins in Cape Town in South Africa where the family will be visiting a township.

Later, Prince Harry will travel alone to three countries in the region including Malawi, Botswana, and Angola. While in Angola, the Prince will pay tribute to his mother Princess Diana’s anti-landmine campaign.

The visit to Africa is the first official overseas trip of baby Archie and his father took to Instagram to express his joy about it, he posted “I can’t wait to introduce my wife and son to South Africa”.

Among other places that the Sussexes will be visiting in Cape Town include a workshop supporting children and empowering young girls where Meghan is expected to speak about the rising violence against women in South Africa.

The royals will also visit another township near Johannesburg where they will reach a project fighting rising unemployment in South Africa.

Meghan and baby Archie will be spending the duration in South Africa as Prince Harry will be visiting in Malawi, Botswana, and Angola before reuniting with his family in Johannesburg for their scheduled departure on 2 October.

In Angola, the duke will uphold the legacy of his mother, the Princess of Wales while paying tribute at her anti-landmine campaign which she launched in 1997 when she visited the country calling for landmines to be outlawed.

In Malawi, the Price will also pay tribute to a British soldier who was killed by an elephant during anti-poaching operations and he will be emphasizing on the efforts to protect endangered animals.

Prince Harry first visited Africa in 1997 shortly after his mother’s death when he was brought by the Prince of Wales “to get away from it all”, he said.

The royals will meet Nelson Mandela’s widow Graca Machel and they will have an audience with President Cyril Ramaphosa and his wife Tshepo Motsepe towards the end of their tour.

Baby Archie is expected to be introduced by his parents to Africa at some point during the tour though he has not been included in the official schedule for activities in for South Africa.
