Fly Uganda Launches Flights To Bwindi National Park
A local domestic airline in Uganda; Fly Uganda, will start operating internal flights from Entebbe to Bwindi impenetrable national park a home to almost three quarters of the world’s remaining total population of the endangered mountain gorillas. Fly Uganda is a unique aviation organization that operates in Uganda, offering the highest levels of safety and service. It is a subsidiary of Kampala Executive Aviation; a domestic airline in Uganda that is planning to even launch new routes in 2019 in order to ease accessibility to the remote areas of Uganda. Gorilla trekking being Uganda’s major selling tourism product, several tourists flock in the country to have exclusive encounters with these endangered apes. Accessibility has been one of the major gaps that have been pushing many trekkers to our nearest competitor Rwanda. Having to sit for a full day journey to Bwindi from Kampala was way more challenging than a two hours’ drive from Kigali to Volcanoes National park; the prime home for gorillas in Rwanda.
But now it is very possible to fly to Bwindi impenetrable national park with the new Fly Uganda services. Even for travelers with limited time but still want to see and track the gorillas, the Fly Uganda services are still perfect.
Fly Uganda will be operating three times a week from Kajjansi to Kahihi Airstrip which is just a one hour drive to the park entrance in Buhoma. Monday, Wednesday and Friday will be the operating days for these internal flights and the scheduled flights are to begin on the 2nd of November 2018.
Tour operators gladly embraced the idea of Fly Uganda as it is expected to improve on the accessibility to the gorilla parks as it will save the trekkers from long hours of driving which hindered most travelers interested in short tours and end up missing out gorilla trekking.
Potential travelers are reminded to keep time in order to avoid missing these scheduled flights. Flights will be departing from Kajjansi at 08h00, and arriving at 09h00. Return flights will start at 10h00 and arrive at Kajjansi at 11h30.
For the past years, it has been Aero Link operating the internal flights connecting to Murchison Falls, Kidepo Valley, Queen Elizabeth, Rwenzori Mountain and Bwindi impenetrable forest national parks. Fly Uganda is to complement Aero link due to the increased demand for the huge number of tourists who wish to have encounters with the mighty mountain gorillas.Surprisingly, Fly Uganda has offered the best services at the most affordable prices. The flight will cost only 236 USD, covering fees, taxes and all other in-flight services on a one way basis.
Bwindi impenetrable national park is located in southwestern Uganda, about 520 kilometers away from Uganda’s capital Kampala. It is the prime home for gorillas in Uganda with almost three quarters of the world’s remaining total population of the mountain gorillas. Mgahinga national park is next to Bwindi in gorilla trekking safaris in Uganda. These are only two national parks that offer exclusive gorilla trekking experiences in Uganda.
Note that only three countries in Africa are blessed with the remaining endangered mountain gorillas and Uganda is one of them, next to the Democratic Republic of Congo and Rwanda. In Rwanda, gorilla trekking is done in Volcanoes national park and Virunga national park of DR Congo.
